I am a 28 year old student teacher in the Los Angeles Valley. This blog chronicles my experiences in and out of the classroom as I pursue my teaching credential. It’s a place for me to write about my challenges and a place for me to write about the rewards I receive everyday from working with my students, cooperating teachers, professors, and classmates. Sometimes it’s a place for me to share my own writing.
I am a life-long learner. I will do anything to help my students succeed and have life-changing experiences in the classroom. I welcome any and all information that will assist me in helping them.
I want to be the very best teacher I can be, and I want my students to write constantly. Writing is therapeutic and expressive. It gives all people a chance to express their true feelings and fears. Being a teen is hard. High school was the most difficult time in my life and I hated it, but writing with honesty and fearlessness helped me. Writing connects us. Everyone can be a good writer. Everyone has their own experience to put down on paper. I want to help them tell their stories.
For right now, I’m taking it all in. Education is empowerment. I’ve seen what it can do and I want to be a part of it all.
Find me on twitter @katiemcmahon and tell me what you’re doing today to change the world. Or send me a haiku about pizza.
